Carmel has 18 years’ experience in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S) working in both in-house and client-facing roles.

Sustainability Professional

Carmel is a corporate sustainability professional with a proven track record in delivering high quality, practical solutions to multi-site, national and international clients.

Prior to founding Be Sustainable in July 2017 Carmel worked as Associate Director at a sustainability consultancy providing CR advice, sustainability reporting, strategy and integrated environment and quality management support to clients such as Costa Express and Whitbread PLC. She established and ran the Manchester CSR Club and continues to be an active member of the IEMA North West Steering Group. Carmel now runs her own sustainability networking group, aptly named, Manchester Sustainability Club.

Working with some of the UK’s biggest companies

Carmel has also worked in-house at Barratt Developments PLC leading Corporate Responsibility across the Group and as an Associate Director at the environmental consultancy SEQM LTD. Whilst at Barratt she applied her experience and expert knowledge to work closely with executive level Directors to ensure CR was embedded into business operations. A great example of this is the ground-breaking national partnership with Europe’s largest nature conservation charity, the RSPB. She has a passion for designing and rolling out CR and environmental sustainability programmes. Carmel has gained a reputation for making this process engaging through simple, straight forward delivery.
